No, it isn't leather.  What you see here, from Aleksic's workbench, is a wondrous feet of carving and finish.  The stummel is entirely olivewood, with the exception of the twine that is woven into the actual pipe.  Expertly finished to give the look and feel of leather wrapped around it's whole.  Even the stem is one solid piece, with a crown that has been rusticated to look like a thick piece of matching leather.  On the back of the bowl, the realistic effect is complete with a touch of provocative unravelling.  Gorgeous, unique, and absolutely smokable.
